Few places on earth quite rival the Maldives' coral reefs in terms of beauty and variety that makes it one of the best dive destinations in the World. The Maldives has many types diving experiences available including drift diving, wreck diving, and night diving.

The Maldives consists of about 1,200 low-lying islands, which form 20 natural atolls that are one of the largest coral island groups in the world. The coral reefs of Maldives are famous for their aesthetic beauty and the physical formation of the islands are unique which allows the ecosystems around the islands to be biologically rich and diverse. Image swimming with 1,200 species of fishes, and over 240 species of coral.

All resorts in the Maldives have professional dive schools with multi-lingual instructors and conduct courses for beginners as well as the advanced. The courses range from Open Water Diver to Diving Instructor level. Many of the resorts have excellent house reefs just a short swim from the beach. Snorkellers too can experience the same wonderful views from the surface.

The Maldives are also home to over 21 species of whales and dolphins. More than 14,000 individual whales and dolphins of 16 different species have been sighted in the Maldives recently. Most resorts offer boat trips to view these wonderful animals in their natural environment.

For all those who prefer to spend their time on the water, the resorts organize night fishing or excursions to fishing grounds that lie outside the atolls. In many places the resorts will also cater for those who want to try there hand at windsurfing or sailing.

Since the waves at the outer reefs of northern and southern Male´atoll come up to a height of two and more meters, the resorts of this area have become very popular with Surfers. The unique waves found in these sapphire waters are the product of a consistent and well-groomed pulse that marches up from Indonesia.
